Long before The House of Hayes became what it is today, my own home was my first design laboratory, a place to experiment, take risks, and discover what made a space feel truly special. The Blue Room was an exercise in creating something sophisticated without taking itself too seriously.
The blue velvet sofa became the foundation for the entire room, giving me permission to be a little more playful with everything around it. Oversized abstract artwork, brass accents, and a leopard-print ottoman kept the design from feeling too perfect.
A LESSON IN CONTRAST
I love juxtaposition: soft against structured, refined against unexpected. I believe a room becomes more interesting when everything doesn't match, and that the piece you're tempted to remove is often exactly the piece the room needs...
