The Tween Bedroom of her Dreams

There’s something so bittersweet about watching your little girl grow up—and getting to design a room that grows right along with her.

For my daughter’s bedroom, I wanted to create a space that felt distinctly hers: feminine and playful, but elevated enough that she wouldn’t outgrow it in a year or two. A true tween room that feels special now and can evolve with her through the next season of life.

We wrapped the room in the prettiest dusty blush, creating a warm, almost cocoon-like backdrop. From there, we layered in a light wood canopy bed, soft patterned curtains, romantic bedding, touches of velvet, warm brass, and darker wood accents to keep all of the pink from feeling overly sweet.

One of my favorite parts of designing for kids is finding those little details that reflect their personality. The XOXO above the bed, bow details, vintage-inspired lighting, record player, floral textiles, and tiny whimsical accessories give the room that youthful personality while still feeling intentional and collected.

And because she's officially entering her tween years, we wanted the room to function differently too. Her dresser area became its own little moment with an oversized round mirror and decorative sconce—giving her a place to get ready, listen to music, display the things she loves, and eventually change out the accessories as her style evolves.

The result feels soft, feminine, a little grown-up and still wonderfully young.

As a designer, I love creating beautiful rooms for my clients, but getting to create a space like this for my own daughter hits a little differently. 🤍

She may be growing up faster than I’d like, but for now, she has the tween bedroom of her dreams—and I got to be the one to create it for her.
